Dog lips

Monkey Man, Gorilla Girl and I were playing in the yard, when the neighbor’s dog, Stuie, came racing across the street — Stuie is a black lab/shepherd, and though still a pup, he weighs about 80 pounds, and he’s fast.  He’s friendly and playful, too, but when you are a 30 pound kid, a big black dog racing a full speed toward you must seem like the devil himself. Gorilla Girl leapt onto a chair to avoid Stuie’s advances, but Monkey Man remained still as a tree, not complaining, while Stuie wagged to beat the band and licked Monkey Man’s face.

Later, when Gorilla Girl’s fright has subsided, and her tears had dried, Monkey Man noted, “I wasn’t scared, but I didn’t like those dog lips.”
